Final Project Proposal

I've long been inspired by the exposure of jagged edges, and the combination of a few materials, which compliment one another and also expose the underside of each other.

Our ITP shop, even our NYCity,  has discarded materials every day. Splintered wood, CNCed scraps, laser cut discards. The pieces people think are useless once they've extracted what they need from the material. Even my own chair slices from this weeks project are intriquing.

I desire to fill the space in between, likely with resin but possibly with acrylic and other fillers. Bonus if I can add cast off to cast off to crease something beautiful and useful, like a coffee table of scraps or a shelf of leftovers. My challenge will be to combine the discards in a way that creates an intentional design and order, while letting the pieces work together and show off that way.

If this is unsuccessful I'll use glow in the dark powerder and resin to create something more streamlined.

For now though, I'm setting myself the task of being the junk and trash bin vulture and scraps horder.
